The End or The Beginning?
September 4th, 2007The Labor Day holiday has passed us by for yet another year. For many of us, this signals the end of the summer, the end of vacation, or maybe the end of taking life more leisurely overall. For others, it signals the beginning of the school year, the unofficial beginning of Fall, or maybe the beginning of projects put off to allow for some summer fun.
We each have a way at looking at life. It’s similar to the glass being half-empty or half-full. It all depends on your perspective or how you are feeling about your life on any particular day during any given moment in that day.
It can be stressful for some, yet soothing for others. Some people find a daily routine the most soothing while others prefer more spontaneity. And yet, for many, they prefer a mixture, a balance. of the two.
Finding balance…in our quick-paced, schedule-driven lives, that concept can seem so elusive and so foreign, yet so important. Balance is crucial to helping manage the stress we come across in our daily lives. Balance, for each of us, comes in different ways. It is important to learn what brings us balance and how to hold onto that for our own inner peace.
So maybe, as I reflect back on the meaning of this time of year, it isn’t about beginnings or endings, but more about the balance between the two…the middle ground where life flows into another day, another opportunity for growth and replenishment, and another chance to evaluate how we keep our own balance in our lives.
